BJ Duffin, NSCA CPT
My name is BJ Duffin. Hockey and fitness has always been my passion.
Growing up in Red Deer, I was privileged to progress through the Red
Deer Minor Hockey Association. I played Midget AAA for coach Doug Quinn
from 2010-2012 where I was fortunate to be a part of the 2012 Telus Cup
National Championship team. After Midget, I played for the Olds Grizzlys
of the Alberta Jr Hockey League (AJHL) and was named captain in 2013.
I am currently playing NCAA hockey at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point. During my first year at Wisconsin- Stevens Point, we were able to win
the NCAA National Championship.
In 2016 I became a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength
and Conditioning Association. I am passionate about exercise science and
sports nutrition. I am an advocate for mobility and functional training
and understand the importance of incorporating it into athlete programming.
I believe in strong attention to detail in applying an individualized approach
to each athlete. I love seeing athletes realize their full potential, reach
personal goals and make it to the next level.
I grew up a product of the Red Deer Minor Hockey system I was fortunate
enough to play for Doug Quinn and Al Parada on the midget AAA Telus cup
national finalist team in 2010. I then went on to play 4 years in the
WHL for the Spokane Chiefs, Prince George Cougars and the Regina Pats
as a starting goalie where I played 133 games and made it to the
conference finals my first year. After hockey I began coaching with
Trevor Sprague and the Prince George midget AAA macs midget national
tournament champions 14/15. I have been working out at can pro since
I was 14 and it has helped succeed throughout my junior career with
its top notch equipment, facility and trainers which allowed me to
focus on my specific training for hockey.
Michael Salmon is a Red Deer Minor Hockey graduate who was received
Top Goaltender and First Line All-Star awards at the Mac’s AAA Midget
Invitational Tournament, before moving on to play junior hockey. Over
4 junior seasons, Michael played for the Seattle Thunderbirds and
Prince George Cougars of the WHL and for the Canmore Eagles of the
AJHL and the Notre Dame Hounds of the SJHL. During that time Michael
received the Most Dedicated Player award for Seattle in the 2010-2011
season. After finishing junior Michael committed to Red Deer College
for their inaugural season and has played there the past 4 seasons.
In 2015-2016 season he was awarded Second line All-Star for the ACAC
and was also a nominee for RDC Male Athlete of the Year. During the
2016-2017 season Michael was awarded the Al Ferchuk Kings Hockey
Leadership Scholarship for excellent leadership qualities through
community, team and school involvement.
Over the years I've worked camps for GDI, ATC, and World Pro and I
also started doing Stable in the Net camps this past year and has
worked at Can Pro Hockey and Can Pro Training Centre for the past 4 years.
My name is Christie Brett. I am 28 years old. I am a certified personal
training specialist through Canfitpro. I started training at Can Pro in
preparation for my first Muay Thai amateur fight back in June 2012.
I would not have had the conditioning or the endurance I needed to
win that fight if I had not found a facility, like Can Pro, that caters
to athletes who are looking to be pushed that extra mile.
Today, I am fortunate enough to be able to train my own clients
in this facility. What I like most about Can Pro is the atmosphere.
The staff are friendly and accommodating, not intimidating like many
other gyms. There is a variety of equipment. My clients feel comfortable
training here and that is extremely important to me.
